Note

Using Microsoft Teams When Signed into Multiple Email Accounts

When using Microsoft Teams on the web in a browser where you are signed into multiple email accounts—whether in Outlook, Gmail, or another email service—Teams may automatically log in with the most recently used account. If this is not your Seton Hall University account, you may be unable to join meetings, access files, or use certain features. This occurs because Teams on the web does not prompt you to select an account but instead defaults to the last active login session in the browser, regardless of the email provider.

Common Issues:

  • Incorrect Account Selection: Teams may open under a non-Seton Hall account, restricting meeting access.

  • Frequent Logouts and Session Expiry: Switching between accounts in the browser can cause Teams to log out unexpectedly.

  • Permission Errors: Users will encounter permission errors when attempting to share screens and files within a Teams call.

Resolve and Prevent Login Issues:

  • For Web Users: Sign out of all non-Seton Hall email accounts in your browser, clear your browsing history, then sign in to PirateNet and access Teams through Microsoft 365 apps.

For Best Performance:

  • Use the Teams desktop application to avoid account conflicts.

    • Use Different Browsers: Keep personal and university accounts in separate browsers.

    • Set Up Browser Profiles: Create distinct browser profiles for each email account to prevent session conflicts.

    • Stay Updated: Ensure you are using the latest version of Microsoft Teams for the best experience.
