Invite a Guest to a Teams Class or Meeting
External users can join a Teams meeting anytime, from any device, even if they do not have a Teams account. For the best experience, guests should download the Teams app prior to the call or the meeting.
Invite a guest before a meeting
There are two ways to invite a guest prior to a meeting:
In your Teams calendar, when scheduling or editing a meeting, use the Add required attendees or Add optional attendees box to search for and invite people. You can also schedule a Teams meeting and invite people from Outlook. For details, see Schedule a Teams meeting from Outlook.
Copy the meeting link and share it directly with your guest.
The link is available on the meeting quick view:
The link is also available in the full preview of the meeting. Use the Copy link button to share it with your guest.
Invite a guest during a meeting
There are two ways to invite a guest during an active meeting:
When you're in a meeting, select Show participants in your meeting controls to see the people who were invited but haven't joined yet. You can also type a person's name or phone number in the search box to add someone who was not previously invited.
You can also retrieve the meeting link and share it directly with guests by clicking on the More Options button > Meeting info.
From the Meeting info window, click Copy join info.
Join a meeting without a Teams account
External guests who are not connected to the Seton Hall Microsoft organization can still participate in your Teams classes and meetings. Guests do not need the Teams app or a Teams account to join a meeting. If a guest is having trouble joining a Teams meeting, review I can’t join a meeting in Microsoft Teams.
Go to the meeting invite and select Click here to join the meeting. Or, click on the meeting link that the meeting organizer directly shared with you.
A web page will open with two options, Continue on this browser and Join on the Teams app. If you do not have the Teams app, choose Continue on this browser. Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome are the preferred browsers when joining Teams meetings.
Select Allow when your browser asks if it’s okay for Teams to use your mic and camera. You can always turn off your mic and/or video once you join the meeting.
When you’re ready, select Join now to enter the meeting.
