Manually Mapping a Shared Drive

After being granted access to a network shared drive, the following steps will need to be followed to access the drive (based upon the type of device and its connection to the SHU domain).

Please note:

  • Below applies to Windows devices connected to the SHU network resources.

  • Processes below assumes that the customer has been previously granted access to shared drive.

SHU.edu Domain managed device:
These devices require the user to login using their eight-character Seton Hall username and network password. Typically, these devices are old model workstations.

  1. After shared drive access has been granted, please restart/sign out. Upon login, the shared drives will be listed in "This PC" view.

Amazon WorkSpaces Virtual Machine:

  1. After shared drive access has been granted, please restart/sign out. Upon login, the shared drives will be listed in "This PC" view.

Azure/InTune managed device:
These devices require the user to login using their full Seton Hall email address and network password.
Typically, these devices are newer model workstations.

  1. Open the "This PC" view by:

    • Selecting the “This PC” icon from your desktop.

    • Selecting the "File Explorer" (i.e. the folder icon in Windows task bar), then choosing the "This PC" entry on left-hand panel.

  2. Select the "Computer" tab, then choose "Map network drive".

  3. Map Network Drive settings:

    • Set "Drive" dropdown to "S:"

    • In the "Folder" field, type in "\\win-file4-prod\Department_Share" (without quotations).

      • For "Banner" shared drives, the path is "\\win-file1h-prod\" (without quotations).

    • Actively check off the box for "Reconnect at sign-in", but do not check off the box for "Connect using different credentials".

    • Click the "Finish" button.

  1. Open the "This PC" view by:

    • Selecting the “This PC” icon from your desktop.

  2. At top of screen, select the ellipsis (three horizontal dots), then choose "Map network drive".

  3. Map Network Drive settings:

    • Set "Drive" dropdown to "S:"

      • For "Banner" shared drives, the path is "\\win-file1h-prod\" (without quotations).
