Return a SHU-Issued Mobile Device

If you are leaving Seton Hall University or upgrading to a new device, you must prepare your University-issued mobile device for return to the Department of Information Technology. These steps will ensure that all personal data and security settings are removed, ensuring the device is properly reset and ready for return.

These steps must be completed prior to returning your device(s).

 

Disable Face ID, Touch ID, and Passcode

  1. Open the Settings app.

  2. Depending on your device model and iOS version, navigate to:

    • Face ID & Passcode,

    • Touch ID & Passcode, or

    • Passcode

  3. Enter your current passcode when prompted.

  4. Toggle the settings to disable Face ID, Touch ID, and Passcode.

  5. You may be asked to re-enter the passcode for confirmation.

  6. Confirm that you want to turn off the device lock.

Remove Device from Your Apple Account

  1. Log into your Apple Account using your Apple Store credentials (not your Seton Hall credentials).

  2. In the Devices section, locate your SHU-issued device.

  3. Follow the prompts to remove the device from your Apple account.

Disable Passcode

  1. Open the Settings app.

  2. Navigate to Security.

  3. Select Device Lock > Screen Lock.

  4. Choose None or toggle off the passcode option.

  5. If prompted, select Delete to remove any saved passcode.

  6. Confirm by selecting Yes or I Agree if prompted with a confirmation message.

Remove Device from Your Google Account

  1. Log into your Google Account using your Google credentials (not your Seton Hall credentials).

  2. In the Security section, under Your Devices, locate your SHU-issued device.

  3. Follow the prompts to remove the device from your Google account.
