Organize Your Canvas Dashboard
If your Canvas Dashboard feels cluttered with too many courses, you can customize which courses appear. Favoriting adds courses to your Dashboard, and unfavoriting removes them. Any published course listed under My Courses in the course list or Card View Dashboard can be marked as a favorite. Unfavoriting a course removes it from the dashboard and helps keep your view organized.
By default, if you have no courses favorited, the list will show up to 20 courses alphabetically. This cannot be reordered manually. Once you favorite at least one course, only your favorite courses will appear in the list.
Only active, published courses can be favorited.
Unpublished, future or past enrollments cannot be favorited.
Concluded courses appear under Past Enrollments. They stay in your favorites until you manually remove them.
Favorite a Course in Canvas
In Global Navigation, click the Courses link [1], then click the All Courses [2].
To favorite a course, click the star next to a course [1]. Filled stars show that the course is a favorite [2].
After you have manually favorited at least one course, Canvas will automatically favorite any new published course enrollments for you.
Note: Only active courses can be favorited.
Unpublished courses cannot be favorited, even if you're allowed to view unpublished courses before the participation dates. Hovering over the star icon for an unpublished course will display a message indicating that the course cannot be added as a favorite.
Note: Future and past enrollments cannot be favorited.
Unfavorite a Course in Canvas
Go to Dashboard, where all your courses are displayed.
In the top right corner of the course you want to unfavorite, click the three dots, then click the Move tab.
Click Unfavorite next to the star icon.
An Unfavorite [Course Name] notification will pop up on your screen. To confirm, click Submit.
