Overview
Podcast Studio C (Room 154C) in the Innovation Hub is a professional, multi-speaker (up to four persons) recording space designed for podcast production, interviews and panel discussions.
The studio includes:
Large podcast table with four microphone stations
Four broadcast microphones
Four headphone sets
Individual mute/cough buttons
Individual headphone volume controls
Professional audio control board (operated by TLTC Staff)
Auto-switching multi-camera system
Recording workstation PC with OBS (Open Broadcaster Software)
This space is ideal for faculty interviews, student or staff podcasts, panel conversations and recorded discussions.
Reservation and Access
Podcast Studio C must be reserved in advance through the Digital Media team. (Booking Details will be avialable shortly)
Users should coordinate scheduling and receive orientation prior to recording.
Before You Begin
Prepare show notes or discussion outline.
Log in using your Seton Hall University credentials.
Step 1: Enter and Power On
Log in to the studio PC using your University credentials. All cameras and audio equipment route directly to this computer.
Activate the “On Air” indicator, located on the desk.
The OBS recording program launch upon login.

Studio Setup
Each of the four stations includes:
Broadcast microphone
Headphones
Large red Push-to-Mute (cough) button
Individual headphone volume control
On the audio control board, you will see:
Four labeled microphone channels: Mic 1, Mic 2, Mic 3, Mic 4
Individual faders for adjusting microphone volume
ON/OFF switches for each microphone
Microphone Controls
Turning a Microphone On
Press the ON button on the corresponding microphone channel.
Raise the fader to an appropriate level.
Adjusting Volume
Use the vertical fader labeled Mic 1–4 to increase or decrease microphone level.
Maintain consistent speaking distance from the microphone.
Push-to-Mute (Cough Button)
Each station includes a large red button labeled:
Mic Is On – Push to Mute
Hold the button down to temporarily mute your microphone.
Release to resume audio.
Use this feature if you need to cough or step away briefly.
Headphone Volume
Each participant can independently adjust the volume they hear in their headphones. This does not affect the recording mix.
Open OBS (Recording Software)
Recording takes place in OBS (Open Broadcaster Software) on the studio PC.
When OBS is open, you will see:
Video Device
Huddly Crew (auto-switching multi-camera system)
The cameras automatically switch to the active speaker. No manual camera switching is required.
Audio Device
Line (2 – USB Audio Codec)
This device captures all four microphones routed through the audio board.
You should see audio levels moving in OBS when participants speak.
Start Recording
Confirm that:
Microphones are ON.
Audio levels are visible in OBS.
Huddly Crew video feed is visible.
Click Start Recording in OBS.
Recording will save locally to the studio computer.
You may record:
Video (camera + audio)
Audio-only (depending on configuration; consult a TLTC staff member if needed
Stop Recording
Click Stop Recording in OBS.
Confirm that the file has saved successfully.
Save and Back Up Your Files
Recordings are stored on the studio PC.
It is strongly recommended that you:
Copy files to a USB flash drive, or
Upload immediately to:
OneDrive
SharePoint
Do not leave recordings stored solely on the studio computer.
After You Finish
Log out of the studio PC.
Turn off the “On Air” indicator.
Reset microphones and headphones for the next group.
Best Practices
Position microphones 4–6 inches from your mouth.
Avoid tapping the table and rustling papers
Keep cell phones muted and off the recording desk.
Perform a short test recording before beginning your session.
Confirm file storage location with a TLTC staff member before leaving the room.
