The glass lightboard acts as both a display and drawing surface. You may present slides, annotate content in real time, solve equations, highlight key concepts or create walkthrough tutorials while maintaining direct eye contact with the camera.

This space is ideal for faculty lectures, research explanations, training videos and instructional demonstrations.

Before You Begin

  • Prepare slides or materials you plan to display.

  • Have your Seton Hall University credentials ready to log in to the computer.

  • Adjust the height of the console table, if necessary.

Studio Layout

When standing at the lightboard, you will have:

  • Lightboard (front glass display) – Primary presentation and drawing surface.

  • Tablet Control Panel (right side) – Controls drawing tools and recording.

  • Flex Monitor (visible through glass on your left)– For notes, reference materials or slide control.

  • Confidence Monitor (visible through glass on your right) – Displays what is being recorded.

  • Keyboard and mouse – For PC navigation.

How the Lightboard Recording Works

The recording captures:

  • You (on camera)

  • Any content displayed on the lightboard

  • Any annotations or drawings made on the screen

Anything shown on the lightboard surface becomes part of the recorded video.

Step 3: Drawing on the Lightboard

Use the tablet control panel to switch between presentation and drawing modes.

To Return to Mouse Control (Important)

If you cannot control the mouse or keyboard:

  1. Tap the Cursor button on the tablet.

  2. This exits pen mode and restores mouse/keyboard control.

If the mouse is not responding, you are likely still in pen mode.

 Select what to Record

You can select to record screen only or camera and screen. Screen only can be used if you only want to record on screen and drawing content. This is good for process/walkthrough videos without an on-camera presenter.

Step 4: Insert Your USB Drive

The Lightboard Studio includes a USB drive for shared use; however, bringing your own drive is recommended.

  1. Insert a USB drive into the port labeled Record USB.

  2. Confirm that it is fully inserted before beginning.

The system will not be able to record unless a USB drive is inserted.

Step 5: Start Recording

Switch the ceiling light switch off (next to the entry door), if it’s not already off. Turn on the exterior “On Air” indicator (located next to the light switch).

  1. Press the large Record button on the control panel.

  2. Confirm that recording has begun.

  3. Deliver your presentation.

Step 6: Stop Recording

  1. Press the Record button again to stop.

  2. Wait for the file to finalize.

  3. Remove your USB drive.

  3. Review your footage.

You may also plug the USB drive into your personal computer.

Because you are logged in with your University credentials, you may upload your file directly to:

  • OneDrive

  • SharePoint

All users are strongly encouraged to back up recordings immediately.

After You Finish

To ensure the room is reset for the next user, please do the following:

  2. Turn off the exterior “On Air” indicator, if used.
