The following wireless networks are available in the South Orange campus residence halls:

  • Campus: designed to connect laptops, desktops, and mobile devices (i.e. cell phone, tablet).

  • "shurhnet" → designed for usage by gaming devices (i.e. Microsoft Xbox, Sony PlayStation, handheld gaming devices) and smart devices (i.e. Smart TV, Amazon/Google Smart hubs, etc.)

  • shurhgame” → specialized network that is allocated in special cases in event that “shurhnet” network does not work with smart/gaming device.

How to connect to “shurhnet”:

  1. Acquire network key from either poster in residence hall or by speaking to Housing and Resident Life staff in your location.

  2. Connect to “shurhnet” and use network key (from poster/provided by housing staff)

shurhnet” and “shurhgame” are available in the following residence halls:

  • Aquinas Hall

  • Boland Hall

  • Cabrini Hall

  • Neumann Hall

  • Serra Hall

  • Xavier Hall

How do I connect to “shurhgame”?
The primary wireless network in residence halls for smart/gaming devices is the “shurhnet” network.

If you have previously connected your device to the “shurhnet” wireless network and notice a feature of device/game does not work, please contact the IT Technology Service Desk via would web portal for assistance: http://servicedesk.shu.edu

Upon approval you will be provided with the necessary login details by an IT staff member.

For example:

  • ”I connected my Smart TV … but I cannot connect to <insert streaming service>.”

  • ”I connected my Sony PlayStation … but when I play <insert game here> I cannot communicate with my friends on my headset.”

  • “The online leader board in <insert game here> does not load when connected to ‘shurhnet’ network.”
