Allow Someone Else to View and Pay Your Bill

By way of our billing resource, TouchNet, a student attending the university is able to enable access to his/her account for a parent, guardian, spouse or other third party.

This 3rd party access is also called the Seton Hall University Student Account Suite and allows authorized individuals the following:

  • view and pay bill

  • receive eStatements

  • set up payment plans

  • receive Bursar notifications about account

Enable Access

Please note: this must be carried out by student attending the university

  1. Go to SHU.edu homepage (http://www.shu.edu).

  2. In the upper right-hand corner, select the link for PirateNet and then enter your network login credentials.

  3. Once logged into the PirateNet Dashboard (aka Okta) click the button for SHU Portal (or Pirate Adventure or New Student Orientation)
         If prompted, please install the Okta plugin.

  4. Within the Portal site select the Profile & Finances tab.

  5. On the Bursar Account module select the link for View and Pay My Bill.

  6. Under My Profile Setup select the button for Authorized Users.

  7. Enter the email address of the individuals you wish to allow access to your account and set your preferences.  Select Continue when done.

  8. You will be asked to accept the terms of usage, select Continue (or you may optionally print out the terms).

On the confirmation page you will be able to add additional authorized users, if necessary.

At this point the email address(es) specified will receive two emails from the Bursar@shu.edu address:

  • Email #1 includes the individual's username.

  • Email #2 includes a temporary password that he/she would utilize to create a permanent password.

First Time Usage (by authorized user)

Process assumes that access has been enabled and this is first/initial usage of account.

  1. Access Authorized Users Site (https://secure.touchnet.net/C20188_tsa/web/login.jsp )

  2. Enter the email address specified by student previously and enter temporary password provided in the series of emails sent previously.

  3. Complete new user setup process and update password to a permanent one.

Recurring Usage (by authorized user)

Process assumes that access has been enabled and initial setup has been completed previously.

  1. Access Authorized Users Site (https://secure.touchnet.net/C20188_tsa/web/login.jsp )

  2. Enter the email address specified by student previously and enter permanent password selected at time of initial setup.

Reset a Forgotten Password

  1. Access Authorized Users Site (https://secure.touchnet.net/C20188_tsa/web/login.jsp )

  2. Enter the email address specified by student previously and select the Forgot Password button.

An email message will be sent to that address, provided it is on file, with link and instructions on how to update password.
