Alertus Campus Emergency Notification
The University uses ALERTUS as part of the Pirate Alert emergency notification system, which allows emergency messages to be sent to computers and immediately viewed by users. ALERTUS will only be utilized to alert the Seton Hall community of life-threatening emergencies. ALERTUS will not be used for non-emergency messaging such as snow closures, transportation system interruptions, or general broadcast messages.
The Department of Information Technology deploys the ALERTUS software to all University-issued computers connected to the SHU domain. Members of the University community that use a personally owned device or one that is not connected to the SHU domain will need to install the ALERTUS application on that device.
The University will deploy scheduled Test alerts through ALERTUS once a semester to ensure its functionality to all University-issued computers and personally owned devices who have installed the application. It is recommended for users who primarily use a personally owned device for university-related purposes to install the application prior to these tests.
