Within the Seton Hall email system there are two types of mailboxes:

  • Mailboxes assigned to individuals (i.e. "john.doe@shu.edu" or "mary.smith@student.shu.edu").

  • Shared mailboxes (aka a "resource mailboxes") assigned to a particular departmental (i.e. "history@shu.edu") that can be accessed by multiple customers.

How to access a shared mailbox (via web access):
  1. Open your web browser and enter the web access address of the mailbox.
    https://outlook.office.com/mail/ <mailbox> address>@shu.edu/

For example, using the "history@shu.edu" address (above) the address would be: https://outlook.office.com/mail/History@shu.edu/

  2. When prompted to "Sign in to continue to Outlook" enter your eight-character username followed by "@shu.edu" and then hit the "Enter" button.
For example, if your name is "Mary Smith" and have a username of "smithmar", you would enter "smithmar@shu.edu" (without the quotes).

  3. If prompted asking if the account is a "Work or school account" or a "Personal account", choose "Work or school account".

  4. Log into your SHU account as you do normally.
