After being granted access to a network shared drive the following steps would need to be followed to them be able to access (based upon the type of device and its connection to the SHU domain)

Please note:

  • Below applies to Windows devices attached to the SHU network resources.

  • Processes below assumes that the customer has been previously granted access to shared drive.

SHU.edu Domain managed device:
As in a device that customer logs into computer using eight-character username and network password.
Typically these devices would be old model workstations.

  1. After shared drive access has been granted, please reboot/sign out, upon re-log into workstation shared drives would be listed in "This PC" view.

Amazon WorkSpaces Virtual Machine:

  1. After shared drive access has been granted, please reboot/sign out, upon re-log into workstation shared drives would be listed in "This PC" view.

Azure/InTune managed device:
As in a device that customer logs into computer using his/her full email address and network password.
Typically these devices would be newer model workstations.

 If device has Windows 10:
  1. Open the "This PC" view.
    Either by:
    - selecting its icon from desktop
    - selecting the "File Explorer" (i.e. the folder icon in Windows task bar) and then choose the "This PC" entry on left hand panel.

  2. Select "Computer" tab and then choose "Map network drive".

  3. Map Network Drive settings:

    • Set "Drive" pull-down to "S:"

    • In the "Folder" field, type in "\\win-file4-prod\Department_Share" (without the quotes).
                       For "Banner" shared drives, path is "\\win-file1h-prod\" (without the quotes).

    • Actively check off the box for "Reconnect at sign-in", do not check off the box for "Connect using different credentials" and hit the "Finish" button.

 If device has Windows 11:
  1. Open the "This PC" view.
    Either by:
    - selecting its icon from desktop
    - selecting the "File Explorer" (i.e. the folder icon in Windows task bar) and then choose the "This PC" entry on left hand panel.

  2. At top of screen select "three horizontal dots" icon and then choose "Map network drive".

  3. Map Network Drive settings:

    • Set "Drive" pull-down to "S:"

    • In the "Folder" field, type in "\\win-file4-prod\Department_Share" (without the quotes).
                       For "Banner" shared drives, path is "\\win-file1h-prod\" (without the quotes).
