South Orange Faculty and Staff Printer Installation

In order to print, your computer must either be a Department of Information Technology issued computer or your computer must be connected to the SHU domain. Any University purchased computer, whether Windows or Mac, must be on the SHU domain. For instructions on how to connect to the SHU domain, please see the Windows how-to article or the Mac how-to article.

  • Download the install file to your Windows machine.

  • Go to your download folder and locate PrintScoutInstaller.zip

  • Right-click on the folder and select Extract all. Click Extract.

  • In your download folder, open the folder titled PrintScoutInstaller and open the file titled PrintScoutInstaller.

  • A security popup window will appear. Select More info and then Run anyway

  • If asked for permission again, select Yes.

    During your first print, you may be prompted by Pharos Sentry Print.

  • Click Login to continue.

  • Enter your PirateNet username and password and if prompted, authenticate with Duo.

  • If prompted to continue setting up release methods, select No.

Please note:
A. After installing “Xerox Printer for MacOS” by default it is set to print in color.
Color printing has an additional charge for output of pages.
B. If have previously installed an earlier version of the Print Scout software for Mac OS you may need to un-install the older software first.

  • Download the install file

  • Go to the Finder, locate the download folder and double click on SOBluePrintFacStaffXerox_Mac3.dmg
    Within the SOBluePrintFacStaffXerox_Mac3 installer drive there will be three folders.
    You must install them in sequence and one at a time.

  • Select the 1. Install Print Scout folder and open the MacPrintScoutInstaller.pkg file to launch the setup wizard.

    If you see an alert message stating “…can’t be opened because Apple cannot check …“:
    1. Close alert screen.
    2. Select the Apple menu → System Preferences.
    3. Select the entry for Security & Privacy.
    4. On the General tab, at the bottom, there will be a message stating “… was blocked from use because …”. Select the “Open Anyway” button
    5. Re-run the MacPrintScoutInstaller.pkg installer.

    Follow the prompts and proceed with the installation using the default settings.  When prompted to input a username/password use the local computer username and password.

    During installation a “Registering printer” screen will appear, after completing registration to Seton Hall University you may close dialog box.

  • Open the document(s) you wish to print and select the Print option.

  • In Print dialog box ensure that “Show Details” is displayed, if not by default.

  • Towards bottom of Print dialog box there will be a menu for the application you are in.
    i.e. Safari, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, TextEdit, etc.

  • From this menu, choose Xerox Features to expand the options for the printer.

  • For the selection of Xerox Black and White change option to On.

  • Select the Print button to send you print job(s) to printer.
