Connect a Mac to the Seton Hall Domain

The steps to add device to the SHU domain will create a new profile on the device. Any customizations and/or locally saved documents will not be carried over into new profile.

  1. On your Mac, choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Users & Groups, then click Login Options.

  2. Click the lock icon to unlock it, then enter administrator name and password.

  3. Click the Join button next to Network Account Server.
    The button is labeled Join if you haven’t already connected to a network account server. It’s labeled Edit if you already have an existing connection. 

  4. For the Server enter shu.edu and screen will automatically expand.
    For the Client Computer ID field should be the Mac’s serial number, if not please set it to that.
    To retrieve your serial number, click on the Apple logo in the menu and then About this Mac
    For the AD Admin User, enter your SHU username.
    For the AD Admin Password, enter your SHU password.

  5. Click OK.

  6. Reboot device using the Restart option from Apple Menu.

  7. When brought to log in screen log in then using your SHU-issued eight character username and network password.

If your computer name contains a hyphen (-), you might not be able to join a network account server. To check your computer name, and change it if necessary, use Sharing preferences.

Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Sharing.
