Labster

Labster allows students to complete virtual laboratory experiments, exploring concepts online. Virtual labs are simulated learning environments that allow students to complete laboratory experiments online and explore concepts and theories without stepping into a physical science lab.

  12. Once you have completed the assignment setup, simply click on Save & Publish.

Canvas Assignment Settings

Labster automatically synchronizes with the assignment settings in Canvas. This means that any configurations you apply to assignments in Canvas will also affect Labster simulations, with Canvas overseeing these settings.

  1. Submission Attempts: Determines the number of attempts students have to submit their work. Note, students will still be able to play the simulations but their attempts will not be graded.

  2. Due Date: The deadline for assignment submission. Note, students will still be able to play the simulation past the due date and their attempt will be submitted as LATE in your grade book.

  3. Available From/Until: Defines the period during which students can access and submit the assignment. After the 'Until' date, students will no longer have the ability to engage with or submit the simulation.

Labster Dashboard

To maximize the benefits of Labster simulations and gain valuable insights from student grade data, it is highly recommended to integrate the Labster Dashboard into your course navigation. This will allow you to closely monitor and track your students' progress.

To make the Labster Dashboard visible in the course navigation:

  1. Click on Settings at the bottom of your Course Navigation menu.

  2. Click Navigation.

  3. Find the Labster Dashboard and drag and drop it into the visible section of Course Navigation.
