Spotlight a Video in Teams

The Spotlight feature in Microsoft Teams lets meeting organizers and presenters lock their video as the main view for all meeting participants. This helps the presenter control the main video feed that a participant sees during the meeting.

Presenters and organizers may also spotlight another attendee in the meeting. In a class, instructors may spotlight a student in class, ideal for presentations or leading a discussion.

Spotlight someone else's video

  1. Right-click on the person's video itself and select Spotlight from the menu.

  2. Alternatively, you can select Show participants to see a list of everyone in the meeting. Find the name of the person whose video you want to highlight in the list, right-click on their name, and select Spotlight.

  3. When you're ready to end the spotlight, right-click again and choose Stop spotlighting.

Spotlight your own video

  1. Select Show participants.

  2. Under Participants, right-click on your name and select Spotlight.

  3. Right-click again and choose Stop spotlighting to exit.
